Microsoft and IBM Share Similar Collaboration Goals, but Follow Different Paths (Gartner)

Microsoft and IBM are looking to broaden their collaboration products; however, they are using different approaches to achieve very similar goals. Consider the long-term vision of each vendor when deciding which products to buy.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW

By 2009, Microsoft's collaborative vision will achieve significant, if not overwhelming, enterprise adoption (0.9 probability).

By 2007, IBM will win favor in more-complex, demanding situations, while Microsoft will prevail with customers looking for an out-of-the-box solution (0.7 probability).
