Canberra July SharePoint User Group

Canberra SharePoint User Group Meeting19th July

The Canberra SharePoint User Group will hold its July meeting on Wednesday 19th July, from 5.30pm at Microsoft (Level 2, 44 Sydney Ave Barton).

This month, Teesaan Koo from Winapp Technology will present on echo2 for SharePoint.

As you know, SharePoint is a powerful portal and collaboration platform. Often gaining rapid user acceptance within organisations, SharePoint can quickly evolve into a critical business system.

As a result, Microsoft Partners and SharePoint Administrators are often under pressure to quickly respond to business requests to constantly change and improve SharePoint. To deliver a dynamic portal, you require an enhanced management tool that can;

1. Update the portal iteratively

2. Bulk load documents into the portal according to a taxonomy

3. Automate testing and deployment processes

4. Remotely deploy changes to branch networks

5. Mitigate the risk of downtime and keep costs low

echo2 for SharePoint is a management tool that allows Microsoft Partners and SharePoint Administrators to feel safe updating critical SharePoint environments. The result is enhanced SharePoint management and enhanced portals.

Gayan Peiris will then show you how to create a simple ASP.NET Web Part in Visual Studio 2005 in .NET Framework 2.0. The web part will then be added to the Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 site. You can see how ASP.NET web parts get integrated to MOSS 2007 and WSS V3.

As always, the beer and pizzas are on us and we look forward to seeing everyone there!

Please note that due to security reasons at Microsoft Canberra, attendees arriving after 6pm will not be able to get into the building.
